Ross Wiener

Ross Wiener is an independent education strategist who advises foundations and mission-driven organizations on how to align K-12 education with the purposes of civic renewal, human flourishing, and workforce readiness. He is also co-editor of Superintendent as Civic Leader, published in 2026 by Harvard Education Press. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and USA Today, among other outlets.

From 2009 to 2025, Ross was a Vice President at the Aspen Institute and Executive Director of Aspen's Education & Society Program. For seven years prior to joining Aspen, Ross was Policy Director and then Vice President of Program and Policy at The Education Trust. Earlier in his career, Ross was a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Educational Opportunities Section and a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Ross graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the George Washington University School of Law. He lives in Chevy Chase, Maryland, just outside Washington, DC.
