Meghan Mackay

Meghan has been obsessed with fostering thriving school communities ever since her first teaching job 30 years ago. Her experiences starting, managing, and leading school systems led her to found LeveragED to connect leaders with each other and their superpowers to collectively create a new space in the education sector. Prior to LeveragED, Meghan co-founded Zeta Charter Schools in 2017, and served as Principal, MD of Schools, and MD of the Education Institute for Success Academy Charter Schools from 2012-2017. Previously, Meghan taught 7th–12th-grade language arts, developed educational software and student information systems, wrote curricula, consulted on instructional design, and helped found charter schools in Boston (1997), Trenton (2005), and the Bronx (2006). Meghan received a B.A. in Art History from Stanford University, an M.A. in Education from the University of San Francisco, and an EdD in Leadership & Innovation from NYU (2024). Meghan serves on Mott Haven Academy Charter School’s board and the Dean’s Advisory Councils for the Stanford Graduate School of Education, the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Education Board of Visitors, and the board of  Education Reform Now, a nonprofit focused on legislative and policy advocacy work to expand educational equity. She was an Emerging Educational Policy Scholar at the Thomas B. Fordham Institute in 2023 and is an Honorary Trustee of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School.
