Dr. Kyla Johnson-Trammell is a civic leader and systems-change strategist working at the intersection of public education, cross-sector partnership, and community transformation. As CEO of Oakland Thrives, she leads a citywide effort to align public, private, and community resources so every child and family can thrive.

She brings this work forward from experience leading one of the nation's most closely watched urban school systems. As Oakland Unified School District's longest-serving Superintendent in three decades, she eliminated a 22-year state loan, mobilized more than $300 million in aligned investment, and advanced a Community Schools strategy that drove meaningful gains in early literacy, graduation rates, and college readiness.

Dr. Johnson-Trammell serves on the boards of The Oakland Reach, Women Leading Ed, and the Netter Center for Community Partnerships at the University of Pennsylvania, and advises national education organizations on strategy and systems change. She works from a consistent conviction: lasting change for children and families depends on leaders who can build shared purpose across institutional lines.
