This three-day institute is designed for sitting superintendents navigating the role amid intense change. Anchored in each superintendent’s local district goals, the program uses real cases, simulations, and examples to learn the proactive leadership skills necessary to advance positive change in a complex environment. Drawing on resources and expertise from across Harvard’s schools of education, business, and government, participants will explore how to build coalitions, exercise political skill, and lead with civic purpose. Structured follow-up support in six-monthly live Zoom sessions will help superintendents problem-solve implementation, adapt strategies to shifting local conditions, and sustain their leadership over time.

This institute combines in-person and online learning.

- Three days in-person at Harvard Graduate School of Education. This will take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday so that participants can fly home Saturday night.
- The program includes six live Zoom follow-up sessions held monthly over six months. Sessions will be facilitated by Faculty Chair Jennifer Perry Cheatham, with dates scheduled based on cohort availability. *For reference, the most recent cohort met monthly on Thursdays from 1–2:30 p.m. ET.*
- The Zoom sessions will use breakout rooms to foster smaller communities of practice.

We are offering reduced tuition for accepted superintendents at $2,950 (regular rate: $4,650).
